Oscar-winning artist Finneas, the older brother and producer of pop star Billie Eilish, claimed that he was tear-gassed while participating in a protest in downtown Los Angeles.
Finneas, the alleged that the “peaceful” nature of the demonstration was disrupted by aggressive tactics from ICE.
“Tear gassed almost immediately at the very peaceful protest downtown — they’re inciting this,” the 27-year-old musician wrote on Instagram.
Finneas, who has increasingly aligned himself with progressive causes, used his social media platform to lash out at immigration authorities.
When you see the photos and videos coming out of LA, it’s important to remember that Democrats are literally FUNDING it.

In one post, he wrote simply: “F*** ICE.” He also reshared content targeting members of the U.S. military and National Guard, some of whom have been deployed to the city by order of President Donald Trump.
One of the posts reshared by the singer included a hotline number for military personnel, urging them to resist what it called unlawful orders.
“[Those] being ordered to violate the Constitution rights of US citizens then this is the number to the GI Rights Hotline,” he shared online. “There is support, you don’t have to go through with it.”
In Los Angeles…
If there is a fire, your leaders will do nothing to protect you.
They will let your home burn.
If there is a riot, endangering your life and property, your leaders will tell law enforcement to stand down.

Additional commentary posted by Finneas amplified a message from television producer Travis Helwig, who cautioned followers about how news outlets might frame the situation in Los Angeles.
“In the coming days, the national media is gonna call LA a war zone,” the post read. “But the truth is, the folks protesting today were worried about their friends, their neighbors, and their community.”
How did the Los Angeles riots start? It wasn’t random ICE raids.
That was propaganda.

The post continued, painting a grim picture of neighborhood fear and disruption.
“LA is afraid right now because their coworkers were kidnapped at work,” he wrote. “Because the guy who sold them dinner was snatched by masked men. And because a bunch of neighbors’ parents straight up never came home.”
Citing President Trump’s decision to bolster law enforcement with additional troops, the post concluded by saying, “As Trump gleefully escalates this with the National Guard, violence is inevitable. But just know this protest started from a place of protection. A place of love.”
The unrest that triggered these responses began after large-scale protests erupted in opposition to recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids across Southern California.
In response to the breakdown in order and violent flare-ups in parts of Los Angeles, President Trump took decisive action.
Violence, looting, and rioting prompted the president to authorize the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops and an additional 700 Marines to protect federal property and personnel.
“If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!” President Trump posted on Truth Social.
California’s Democratic leadership did not take kindly to the federal intervention.
Governor Gavin Newsom accused the administration of exploiting the crisis.
In a post on X, Newsom wrote, “U.S. Marines have served honorably across multiple wars in defense of democracy. They are heroes.”

They shouldn't be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President.

“They shouldn’t be deployed on American soil facing their own countrymen to fulfill the deranged fantasy of a dictatorial President,” he continued.
Newsom also made the claim that the Guard’s involvement was “to manufacture a crisis.”
In an update, the governor said the administration was preparing to deploy an additional 2,000 troops to Los Angeles.

The first 2,000? Given no food or water. Only approx. 300 are deployed — the rest are sitting, unused, in federal buildings without orders.

“I was just informed Trump is deploying another 2,000 Guard troops to L.A.,” he posted, adding that the initial deployment was mismanaged. “The rest are sitting, unused, in federal buildings without orders.”
“This isn’t about public safety,” he argued. “It’s about stroking a dangerous President’s ego. This is Reckless. Pointless. And Disrespectful to our troops.”
On Monday, Newsom and the state’s attorney general filed a lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco, seeking to block President Trump’s deployment orders.
The 22-page complaint challenged the legality of federal intervention in what state officials say is a state matter.
“One of the cornerstones of our Nation and our democracy is that our people are governed by civil, not military, rule,” the lawsuit stated.
“The Founders enshrined these principles in our Constitution — that a government should be accountable to its people, guided by the rule of law, and one of civil authority, not military rule.”
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass echoed the governor’s concerns. During a televised interview, Bass blamed recent unrest on federal immigration enforcement.
“Well, I just have to say that if you dial back time and go to Friday, if immigration raids had not happened here, we would not have the disorder that went on last night,” she said.
She further warned that while the city was calm at that moment, “we do not know where and when the next raids will be.”
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered a different perspective, defending the administration’s actions as necessary to restore order.
“In the wake of this violence, California’s feckless Democrat leaders have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens,” Leavitt stated.
She characterized the unrest as being led by “violent mobs” who attacked “Federal Law Enforcement Agents carrying out basic deportation operations.”
The U.S. military also confirmed its presence in the region. According to U.S. Northern Command, 700 Marines have been temporarily relocated to Los Angeles as part of the effort to stabilize the area.
The dispute over federal involvement intensified further on Monday when Vice President J.D. Vance and Governor Newsom clashed on social media.
Newsom, reacting to Trump’s mention of potential arrest, posted: “The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting Governor.”

“This is a day I hoped I would never see in America. I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, this is a line we cannot cross as a nation — this is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism,” he added.
Vice President Vance simply shot back: “Do your job.”
“Do YOUR job. We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved,” Newsom sniped. “Rescind the order. Return control to California.”
