New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was brutally mocked for barely being able to bench press a shockingly light weight.
The 33-year-old, who emerged as the front runner in the mayoral race after handily defeating former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary, has built his campaign on far-left policies that critics say would reshape New York into a socialist experiment.
On Saturday, he appeared at Brooklyn’s annual Men’s Day open streets event, where video captured him poorly attempting a bench press.
Dressed in less-than gym friendly formal attire, Mamdani took his place on the bench while a crowd gathered.
64 vs. 33. A lifetime of hard work vs. a silver spoon. The results speak for themselves.

One spectator could be heard shouting, “This is how you move up in the polls,” as the candidate tried to hoist the weight.
The clip showed that Mamdani’s spotter not even letting go of the bar as he attempted the lift. After two shaky repetitions, Mamdani climbed off the bench, thanked his spotter, and walked away.
The moment quickly went viral, sparking mockery across social media and from his political rivals.
Mayor Eric Adams, one of Mamdani’s top challengers, wasted no time seizing on the display. “64 vs. 33. A lifetime of hard work vs. a silver spoon. The results speak for themselves,” Adams wrote.
“The weight of the job is too heavy for ‘Mamscrawny.’ The only thing he can lift is your taxes,” he jabbed.
Cuomo, who is also running as an independent in the mayoral race, took a shot of his own. “It’s easy to talk, it’s hard to carry the burden,” he tweeted.
“This guy can’t bench his own body weight, let alone carry the weight of leading the most important city in the world.”
Former NCAA swimmer and outspoken women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines posted a video of herself bench pressing 165 pounds, noting she weighed only 130 at the time.

“165lb relatively easy reps on bench when I weighed 130lbs. Take note, @ZohranKMamdani,” she wrote.
“I’m not saying we should judge politicians for how much they can bench but I’m absolutely judging a politician for how much he can bench,” she quipped.
Conservative comedian Tim Young chimed in on the bashing. “Zohran Mamdani can’t bench press 135 lbs. So like a good socialist, someone else basically does all the work for him and he celebrates like he did it himself. Yikes.”
Another online critic joked, “Zohran out here preaching revolution but can’t even bench 95lbs; bro’s strongest lift is raising your taxes.”

The embarrassing display comes as Mamdani campaigns on a sweeping set of progressive policies that would dramatically reshape New York City’s economy and institutions.
Mamdani has called for defunding the NYPD, while vowing to raise taxes on millionaires and corporations by $9 billion to fund initiatives like universal child care, and public housing programs.
The Democratic candidate has also pledged to direct $65 million in taxpayer funds toward transgender health care, and has floated populist proposals such as government-owned grocery stores.
Mamdani’s opponents in the general election include Cuomo and Adams, both running as independents, along with Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa and former U.S. Attorney Jim Walden.
While Mamdani faced ridicule for his struggles in Brooklyn, a separate viral moment was unfolding in Georgia involving a familiar face from Hollywood.
Actor Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the 1990s series “Lois & Clark,” was filmed attempting an obstacle course while training alongside Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
TV’s former “man of steel” Dean Cain runs through the obstacle course during training to become an ICE officer at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia.

The 59-year-old revealed he is becoming an “honorary” ICE officer to help boost recruitment numbers for the agency under President Donald Trump’s administration.
“People don’t realize, they think that ICE is this horrible, nefarious group and they’re not — they’re phenomenal people,” Cain said, adding that he stands “with our law enforcement.”
The training, however, showed Cain visibly struggling as he navigated hurdles at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

In the footage, he lumbered over a wall, crawled through a barrel, dragged a dummy, and later fired weapons at a shooting range with acting ICE director Todd Lyons.
The clips triggered a wave of mockery online. One user wrote, “Oh man. Embarrassing for Dean Cain.”
Another said, “ICE posting his training session like it’s some kind of ‘Man of Steel’ flex. Although it tracks with the incompetent, undertrained ICE agents we’re seeing on the streets.”

Others mocked his involvement outright. “The only reason why Dean Cain joined ICE, was to get sandwiches thrown at him,” one tweet read.
Another added, “Is this for real? Has this account been hacked by SNL? LMAO.” Someone else snarked, “Which one of the Teletubbies does he remind you of?”
Cain has brushed off the ridicule, saying earlier this month that he wanted “to help save America.” He explained that joining ICE was his way of backing Trump’s immigration crackdown.

“I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it. So I joined up,” Cain said.
In his pitch to encourage more recruits, Cain added, “If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America’s streets.”
“They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland for families. Join today if it’s something that tickles your fancy because we can use you.”
