Left-wing “Star Wars” star Mark Hamill can barely stand to be alive now that his least favorite president, Donald Trump, is once again in the Oval Office.
Hamill has long been one of Hollywood’s loudest voices against President Trump and his administration.
Now, the actor has ramped up his rhetoric, targeting not only the president but also his policies and supporters.
In an interview with The Times, Hamill mocked Trump’s leadership and described the administration as “the bullying, the incompetence, the people in place.”
Mark Hamill debated permanently leaving the U.S. after Trump’s win and relocating to the UK or Ireland.
The Star Wars actor has revealed he debated leaving but was persuaded to stay in America by his wife who said:

He claimed the only way to endure it “without going crazy and wanting to open my veins in a warm tub is to look at it like a thick, sprawling political novel.”
Hamill insisted that America’s global standing had been “crippled” under Trump’s leadership. “It’s entertaining in a way because this could actually be the end,” he added.
Hamill also sneered about Trump’s foreign policy positions. “Making Canada a 51st state? Do you know how offensive that is? And then taking over Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. The distractions are hilarious,” he said.
A longtime supporter of Joe Biden who shifted his endorsement to Kamala Harris during the campaign, Hamill has never hid his disdain for Trump.

He frequently attacked the president during the 2024 race and escalated his rhetoric after Trump secured victory over Harris.
Back in 2024, Hamill compared Trump’s win to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, saying the election date would “live in infamy.”
His reference invoked Franklin D. Roosevelt’s description of the devastating event that forced America into World War II.
Hamill also lashed out when Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery last summer on the anniversary of the Kabul bombing that killed 13 U.S. service members in 2021. Trump posed with the families of the fallen, smiling and offering a thumbs-up gesture.

Hamill erupted on social media, posting, “Nothing to see here. Just the tone-deaf draft dodger gleefully giving a thumbs-up at the graves of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.”
The actor’s criticism even extended to a playful White House post celebrating “Star Wars Day.” When staff shared an AI-generated image of a muscular Trump wielding a red lightsaber, Hamill mocked the president.
“Well, first of all, I thought: ‘If he’s a Star Wars fan, he should know he should be holding a green lightsaber,’” Hamill told the cohosts of “The View” in June.
“Not an evil red lightsaber! My comment was: ‘Proof positive he’s full of Sith.’”

Hamill claimed the most effective response to Trump was mockery. “I don’t get angry and I don’t drop F-bombs,” he said.
“I mean, I know I have a lot of kids that follow me, but I think to have fun with it, mock him — that’s the kryptonite to malignant narcissists.”
Despite frequent outbursts, Hamill admitted he considered fleeing the country after Trump’s election win.
“I still believe there are more honest, decent people than there are the MAGA crowd. If I didn’t, I’d move back to England,” Hamill remarked.

He said he even offered his wife, Marilou York, the option of moving to London or Ireland. “She’s very clever,” Hamill said.
“She didn’t respond right away but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.’ That son of a b–ch, I thought. I’m not leaving.”
The White House pushed back on Hamill’s remarks, delivering a sharp response to Fox News.
“Since Mark has decided to stay in the United States, he will get to enjoy the many wins President Trump is securing for the American people — and really, who can blame him for second guessing a plan to move to the same place as Rosie O’Donnell,” a spokeswoman said.
O’Donnell, one of Trump’s most notorious critics, relocated to Ireland full time earlier this year.
Hamill isn’t the only entertainer to float leaving America under Trump’s leadership. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel recently revealed he secured Italian citizenship and suggested a possible move to Europe.
During a podcast appearance with comedian Sarah Silverman, Kimmel said many of her friends were also seeking alternative citizenships.

“I do have … I did get Italian citizenship… I do have that,” Kimmel confirmed.
He painted a dire picture of Trump’s presidency, declaring, “What’s going on is … as bad as you thought it was gonna be, it’s so much worse. It’s just unbelievable. I feel like it’s probably even worse than [Trump] would like it to be.”
Kimmel also insisted some of Trump’s former backers are questioning his decisions. “There are a lot of people … now you see these clips of Joe Rogan saying, ‘Why’s he doing this? He shouldn’t be deporting people.’ People go, ‘F*** you, you supported him.’ I don’t buy into that. I don’t believe ‘F*** you, you supported him.’”
He argued that those changing their stance on Trump should not be dismissed. “I think everybody has to… the door needs to stay open. If you want to change your mind, that’s so hard to do. If you want to admit you were wrong, that’s so hard and so rare to do. You are welcome.”
Hamill, meanwhile, continues to mix politics with Hollywood nostalgia, frequently invoking Star Wars in his criticism of Trump. From lightsabers to exaggerated suicide jokes, his remarks highlight the extent to which some celebrities remain fixated on opposing the president.
